Jake Paul and Matchroom Boxing Resolve Legal Dispute

Jake Paul and Matchroom Boxing have resolved their legal differences, leading to the dismissal of their respective lawsuits in a New York federal court.

Legal representatives for all involved parties submitted a request for dismissal to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York on Monday. This action follows a previous notification indicating that a settlement agreement had been reached.

According to the court filing on Monday, all parties have agreed to dismiss the action with prejudice, meaning it cannot be brought again, and without either party being required to pay costs or fees.

Earlier, on March 18th, lawyers representing Paul, Eddie Hearn`s Matchroom Boxing, and judge Glenn Feldman informed the court about the settlement agreement and their intention to file for dismissal by March 31, 2025.

The dispute originated from comments and accusations made by Jake Paul concerning the judging of two boxing matches: the first fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano in 2022, and a separate bout involving Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua.

Matchroom Boxing`s initial lawsuit claimed that Paul made defamatory statements suggesting Matchroom Boxing had bribed judge Glenn Feldman to manipulate the outcomes of these matches.

In an interview, Paul asserted that Glenn Feldman was “clearly getting paid money by Matchroom Boxing” after Feldman scored the fights in favor of Taylor and Joshua, both of whom are promoted by Hearn. Paul stated that this was a serious accusation, highlighting the alleged obviousness of the situation.

Consequently, Matchroom Boxing initiated a defamation lawsuit against Paul, and Feldman joined as a co-plaintiff in October 2022.

Despite the ongoing legal battle, Paul`s Most Valuable Promotions and Hearn`s Matchroom Boxing collaborated to promote the Taylor-Serrano rematch last November. A third fight between Taylor and Serrano is scheduled for July 11th at Madison Square Garden in New York.

A settlement conference was scheduled in December after Judge Paul Gardephe of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York rejected Paul`s motion to dismiss the lawsuit in September. This rejection led to a pre-trial conference a few weeks later.

The specific terms of the settlement remain undisclosed, but the dismissal request suggests that all parties are content with the resolution.
