The New York Islanders have completed some key off-season tasks.
The club announced on Friday that it has re-signed forward Kyle Palmieri and defenseman Adam Boqvist.
According to Sportsnet`s Elliotte Friedman, Palmieri`s new contract is for two years with an average annual value (AAV) of $4.75 million. Friedman also reported that Boqvist signed a one-year contract worth $850,000.
Friedman noted that both agreements were reached prior to the team hiring Mathieu Darche as their new general manager.
The 34-year-old Palmieri registered 24 goals and 24 assists in 82 games for the Islanders this past season, marking his fourth full year with the organization.
The Islanders originally acquired Palmieri in a trade with the New Jersey Devils in April 2021.
Across more than 900 career games played for the Islanders, Devils, and Anaheim Ducks, the American forward has accumulated 527 points (270 goals, 257 assists).
Meanwhile, Boqvist, aged 24, appeared in 35 NHL games for the Islanders last season, recording four goals and 10 assists. He was claimed off waivers from the Florida Panthers in January.
Over his six-season NHL career with the Islanders, Panthers, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Chicago Blackhawks, the Swedish native has tallied 99 points (27 goals, 72 assists) in 244 total games.
The Chicago Blackhawks originally selected Boqvist eighth overall in the 2018 NHL Draft from the London Knights.
