NEW YORK – The New York Islanders defeated the Minnesota Wild 3-1 on Friday, ending their six-game losing streak. Noah Dobson contributed a goal and an assist in the victory.
Casey Cizikas and Simon Holmstrom also scored for the Islanders. Goaltender Ilya Sorokin stopped 27 shots. With seven games left, the Islanders aim for a strong finish to the season.
Mats Zuccarello scored the lone goal for Minnesota. Filip Gustavsson made 24 saves, but the Wild suffered their fourth consecutive loss.
In the second period, Holmstrom`s pass deflected off Frederick Gaudreau`s skate and into the net, giving the Islanders a 2-1 lead.
Dobson extended the Islanders` lead to 3-1 with a power-play goal in the third period.
