Ilia Topuria has stated he would accept a fight with Conor McGregor if offered by the UFC, even as his first fight after relinquishing the featherweight title.
During an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, Topuria acknowledged McGregor`s potential return, citing UFC`s history of featuring older fighters. He mentioned past discussions about a potential matchup but emphasized the UFC`s confidentiality protocols.
While open to fighting McGregor, Topuria suggested it would be a one-sided contest in his favor if they were to face off after a full training camp.
Topuria also expressed interest in challenging Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title, a fight anticipated by many fans. However, considering the uncertainty in the lightweight division, he highlighted another preferred opponent: Paddy Pimblett.
Topuria revealed that a fight with Paddy Pimblett excites him even more than a McGregor fight, particularly if it could be held at the Bernabéu Stadium in Spain. He believes the stadium`s retractable roof and large capacity, coupled with the potential for British fans to travel to Spain, would make it a massive event.
Topuria concluded by referring to a potential fight with Pimblett in Spain as a “massive one.”
