Taylor Hall will remain with the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes announced on Wednesday morning that the forward has agreed to a three-year contract extension with an annual average value (AAV) of $3.167 million.
The 33-year-old Hall joined the Hurricanes in January as part of a significant three-team trade involving the Colorado Avalanche and Chicago Blackhawks, which also brought Mikko Rantanen to Carolina.
In a team news release, Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky stated, “Taylor has demonstrated he is an exceptional fit for our squad, and we are delighted he looks forward to making Raleigh home for three more seasons. He provides a dependable veteran presence in the dressing room and makes an impact on the ice.”
A native of Calgary, Hall registered 18 points (nine goals, nine assists) in 31 regular-season contests following the trade and has added one goal and two assists in five playoff games.
So far in the postseason, the Hurricanes are the only team to advance to the second round, having eliminated the New Jersey Devils in five games.
Drafted first overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 2010, Hall played six seasons with the Oilers organization before also having stints with the Devils, Arizona Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Boston Bruins, and Blackhawks.
The former Hart Trophy recipient has accumulated 284 goals and 455 assists for a total of 739 points over 909 career games.
