Henry Cejudo Recounts Confrontation with Car Crash Suspect

Sports news » Henry Cejudo Recounts Confrontation with Car Crash Suspect

Henry Cejudo, despite not having a fight scheduled, recently had a chance to use his skills outside the octagon.

On Saturday, a video shared by Cejudo`s producer, Dylan Rush, featured the former UFC two-division champion describing a dramatic event. Cejudo claims he assisted in detaining a suspect in his neighborhood who had crashed a car and then attacked a resident.

In the video, Cejudo explains that he and Dylan Rush witnessed a car speeding excessively. They then saw the car crash into a neighbor`s yard.

The video footage shows the suspect being restrained on the ground and a man, presumably Cejudo`s neighbor, with a head injury. Cejudo stated that the driver attacked his neighbor, prompting Cejudo to intervene.

Cejudo recounted that after the crash, the driver attempted to flee and then assaulted his neighbor, an older man in his 60s. Cejudo felt compelled to act, subduing the suspect physically. Neighbors also intervened.

Dylan Rush`s Instagram post provided further details, stating that Cejudo apprehended a hit-and-run driver who was trying to escape after driving at 80 mph in a residential area and crashing into a house.

According to Rush, after crashing, the driver assaulted the 65-year-old homeowner before Cejudo chased him down and tackled him. The suspect resisted until another neighbor pointed a gun at him, leading to his cooperation before the police arrived.

Cejudo`s last UFC fight was in February, where he lost to Song Yadong due to a technical decision after an eye poke. His record since returning from retirement in 2023 is 0-3.

Due to lingering effects from the eye injury, Cejudo has considered retiring for a second time.
