During the recent Xbox Partner Preview event, Perfect Garbage unveiled the release date for their highly anticipated game, Grave Seasons. The title, which has been closely followed by many, is scheduled to launch on August 14th across multiple platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch version was specifically announced just a month prior during an Indie World showcase.

It feels like a long time ago, but Grave Seasons first appeared on our radar during June Gamer 2025. It featured in several events, with its initial major appearance being at the Women-Led Games Showcase. At that event, other notable titles included A Heavy Morning and Downhill, alongside Perfect Tides: Station to Station, which is currently the only one of those mentioned that has already been released.

Since its announcement, the development studio has consistently shared a wealth of material for Grave Seasons. This includes detailed trailers offering extensive gameplay footage, developer videos showcasing various artistic inspirations and designs from the team’s artists, and broader insights into the creation process of this intriguing and promising game.

Grave Seasons invites players to the town of Ashenridge, where they can engage in farming mechanics, pursue romantic relationships with various characters, and investigate mysterious occurrences after nightfall. The unique twist in this narrative-driven farming simulator lies in the dark secret of one of its residents: a serial killer possessing supernatural abilities. This sets up a truly compelling premise for the game!

This sinister twist clarifies why Blumhouse Games, known for publishing titles like Sleep Awake and Crisol: Theater of Idols in the past six months, is the publisher for Grave Seasons. Blumhouse is a renowned horror film production company, though they also produce unsettling but less overtly terrifying films such as Get Out, Whiplash, and Split. Their venture into video games appears to be a serious commitment, aligning with their preference for supporting stories that, while not always pure horror, often contain nightmarish elements and unsettling themes.

A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to speak with David Tornero, Creative Director at Vermila Studios and one of the creators of Crisol: Theater of Idols. During our discussion, the topic of the Madrid-based studio’s relationship with its publisher arose, particularly following its separation from the Embracer Group. Blumhouse Games and Vermila Studios partnered in 2024, and since then, the production company has respected Vermila’s creative vision while consistently providing both financial and promotional support for the game.

It’s certainly worth paying attention to new publishers committed to bringing projects of this scale to fruition. While we await the release of a demo, we’ve marked August 14th on our calendars to ensure we don’t miss out on this captivating and unsettling title, Grave Seasons.
