The Calgary Flames face a crucial game on Tuesday against the Vegas Golden Knights, who are prioritizing rest for their key players before the playoffs.

The Golden Knights have announced that Alex Pietrangelo, Noah Hanifin, Jack Eichel, and Mark Stone will not be playing in the upcoming game. Backup goalie Ilya Samsonov will start, with Adin Hill as his backup.

Having already secured the Pacific Division title, the Golden Knights` final two games will not affect their playoff seeding.

For the Flames, however, a victory against Vegas is essential, and they also need favorable results from other games on Tuesday to remain in contention for a playoff spot. If both the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild win their games in regulation time, the Flames will be eliminated from playoff contention.

Despite resting some of their top players, the Golden Knights previously defeated the Flames 3-2 in overtime last month, even with their third-string goalie Akira Schmid in net.

The Flames versus Golden Knights game is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. MT.
