Vegas Golden Knights centre Nicolas Roy (10) looks on against the Minnesota Wild during the second period of Game 2 of a first-round NHL hockey playoff series Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in Las Vegas.

Nicolas Roy`s game ended prematurely on Thursday.

On Thursday, five minutes into the first overtime, Vegas Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy received a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for a dangerous cross-check to the head area of Edmonton Oilers player Trent Frederic.

The incident happened when Roy and Frederic were battling for the puck along the boards. The puck briefly lifted into the air, and Roy made a stick motion towards it but instead made contact with Frederic`s face.

The Oilers forward immediately fell to the ice, visibly bleeding. Roy was assessed the major penalty, which was upheld after automatic review. The Oilers failed to score during the ensuing five-minute power play.

Despite the incident, Frederic was able to remain in the game.
