The Vegas Golden Knights secured a thrilling last-second victory against the Edmonton Oilers, despite being without their captain.
Captain Mark Stone left Game 3 against the Edmonton Oilers with 6:20 remaining in the opening period and was not seen on the bench afterwards.
Shortly after the second period began, Vegas announced that Stone would not be returning to the game due to an upper-body injury.
It is unclear exactly when the injury occurred, but he had incidental head contact with the knee of Oilers forward Corey Perry earlier and appeared to be in discomfort afterward.
Stone played a total of 5:54, recorded one shot on goal, and finished with a minus-one rating.
Following the Golden Knights` 4-3 victory, head coach Bruce Cassidy informed reporters that Stone`s status would be listed as day-to-day.
Losing the 32-year-old for any extended period would be a significant blow to the Golden Knights, as he leads the team in playoff goals with four in eight games and ranks second only to Jack Eichel in points this postseason (eight).
