Vegas Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy has been financially penalized, receiving the maximum possible fine of $7,812.50 under the CBA for cross-checking Edmonton Oilers forward Trent Frederic.

The incident occurred during overtime in Game 2 on Thursday, and the league announced the fine on Friday.

During the play, which took place approximately five minutes into the extra frame, Roy was assessed a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct.

The cross-check occurred when Roy and Frederic were competing for the puck near the boards. As the puck briefly went airborne, Roy attempted to play it with his stick but instead made contact with Frederic`s face.
