Gilbert Burns remains optimistic following his recent defeat in the Octagon.
Competing in the main event of UFC Vegas 106 on Saturday, Burns suffered a first-round stoppage loss to Michael Morales. This result marks Burns`s fourth consecutive defeat, prompting some fans to question what the future holds for the 38-year-old veteran.
Despite the setback, “Durinho” appears undiscouraged. On Sunday morning, Burns released his first public statement since the fight, which included expressions of gratitude and commendation for his opponent, Michael Morales.
In his statement, Burns shared: “Thankful for this journey! I’m still super blessed! Of course, it wasn’t the outcome I was looking forward to, especially for this one. I work extremely hard, who saw, saw, but it’s the fight game and it’s life! Congrats to Michael Morales, wishing you and your team all the success! That’s is it no sad stories! Grateful for this beautiful journey and for all the lessons! God is good all the time! All honors, praise, and glory are given to him in a win or defeat!”
Burns, a former world champion in both gi and no-gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu, previously challenged for the UFC welterweight championship against Kamaru Usman at UFC 258. His current professional mixed martial arts record stands at 22 wins and 9 losses.
