Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, recently made controversial remarks during an explosive press conference, targeting Barcelona. Perez accused the Catalan club of “stealing seven La Liga titles” during the period of payments made to former CTA vice-president Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, a scandal known as the Negreira case.
Barcelona has consistently denied all allegations of misconduct, including accusations of sporting corruption. In response to Perez’s statements, interim president Rafa Yuste described them as “pathetic.” Now, Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has also voiced his opinion.
In an interview with Cadena SER, Lopez was questioned about Perez’s assertion that Barcelona had “stolen” La Liga titles, a claim he vehemently denied.
“Yes, we saw it like everyone else, but we always focus on what’s happening here. Everyone has their own perspective. You can’t say that Barça stole seven leagues, because Messi, Iniesta, and Xavi played. We don’t care about that either. We are on our path, we don’t pay attention to what happens outside of Barça; we are very focused. We are very focused.”
“I don’t care because everyone can say what they want, but I think it wasn’t right to say it. We are very focused on what is happening at Barça, which is going through a very good period. I’m sure titles will come, and we are very happy with what we’re doing.”
Lopez Dismisses “Real Madrid Prototype” Claims
Lopez was also asked about recent comments from journalist Tomas Roncero, who labeled the Barcelona player as the perfect signing for Real Madrid due to being a “Real Madrid prototype.”
“I am a Barça prototype. It is impossible for me to go to Real Madrid; I will always go to Barça.”
