The highly anticipated boxing match between former UFC champions Rashad Evans and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has been cancelled. They were scheduled to headline an event in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The organizers initially announced that while Jackson would not participate, Evans would still compete against a different opponent. However, Rashad Evans has now released a statement indicating that he will not be fighting at the event at all.
Evans explained that “unexpected challenges with the promotion” and unmet “key contractual obligations” led to this decision. He expressed his disappointment, stating that he and the fans were looking forward to the event.
Despite this cancellation, Evans remains hopeful about a future boxing match with Jackson. They previously fought in MMA at UFC 114 in 2010, where Evans secured a victory by unanimous decision. Evans returned to combat sports in 2022 after retirement, winning an Eagle FC fight.
Jackson`s last fight was a knockout loss in 2019. Throughout his MMA career, he achieved a 20-10 record in major organizations including UFC, PRIDE, and Bellator.
