Emma Raducanu`s Miami Open match against Amanda Anisimova was temporarily halted when Anisimova, a friend of Raducanu, requested a physio.
Raducanu demonstrated superior play, securing a decisive 6-1, 6-3 victory over Anisimova on the Butch Buchholz court. She conceded only nine points in the first set.

Commentator Annabel Croft noted Anisimova`s negative body language after Raducanu took a 5-1 lead in just over 15 minutes.
Croft commented on Anisimova`s demeanor, saying she appeared “all over the place,” “fed up,” “not enjoying this,” and “being humiliated.”
Anisimova`s physio request between sets briefly interrupted Raducanu`s momentum. This developed into a medical time-out as the physio addressed discomfort in Anisimova`s right arm during their round of 16 match.
Anisimova, aged 23, received treatment on her right wrist, an existing concern. This followed a previous medical timeout for blisters in her prior victory against Mirra Andreeva.
During the pause, Croft observed Anisimova manipulating her wrist, noting it seemed painful. She added that Anisimova appeared “completely all over the place” and seemed lost regarding how to compete against Raducanu in the first set, possibly losing interest. Croft concluded that Anisimova seemed emotionally “rattled,” exhibiting rushed play and a lack of composure.
Despite the medical timeout, Anisimova continued the match. However, Raducanu quickly broke her serve again, securing a dominant win.
Raducanu`s Miami Open journey includes an easy win against Sakaya Ishii and an impressive victory over eighth seed Emma Navarro. Her round-of-32 match against McCartney Kessler ended with Kessler`s retirement due to a back issue.
This marks Raducanu`s first instance of winning four consecutive matches at a single event since her 2021 US Open triumph.
Raducanu`s quarter-final opponent in her debut WTA 1000 quarter-final will be either No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula or Marta Kostyuk.
Raducanu`s live ranking has risen to 48th, though her current performance suggests a level significantly higher.
