Platenik, known as Vlado, and Raducanu ended their brief partnership after just two weeks, following her defeat in the first round at the Indian Wells Open.
He was absent from her player`s box during her victory in the opening match in Florida. He had been informed of a “pause” in their agreement, despite recent training sessions together.
Platenik stated to the Telegraph, “Emma mentioned she wanted to pause our collaboration.”
“I understand she faces considerable pressure, making things challenging for her. Therefore, I respect her choice.”
“I wish we had more time together. However, this is the nature of sport. Emma is exceptionally talented, and I hope she can utilize some of my advice going forward.”
“I wish her the very best.”
Platenik expressed satisfaction with his work on Raducanu`s serve, an area that had been problematic due to a back issue during the off-season.
He further commented, “I`ve never encountered a player who improved as rapidly as Emma.”
“We engaged in intensive yet productive practice for eight or nine days. Our training approach was somewhat different from what she was accustomed to, focusing significantly on enhancing footwork positioning.”
“We also refined her serve by implementing a higher toss and dedicated considerable effort to her second serve, which also suffered from an inconsistent toss.”
“Now, she has the ability to utilize the kick-serve more effectively and exhibit greater aggression, even on her second serve.”
“I am genuinely pleased with her advancement and her performance in the first-round match.”
“If she maintains and strengthens these improvements we`ve been working on, she has the potential to re-enter the world`s top 20. However, I always exercise caution when setting definitive limits.”
