Vancouver Canucks will finish the season without Elias Pettersson, as he will not recover from his injury in time for the remaining three games.
Coach Rick Tocchet informed reporters that Pettersson is being shut down for the rest of the season. Tocchet mentioned that while Pettersson is improving, it is best for him to stop playing this season.
Pettersson, who is 26 years old, has been absent from the lineup since March 22 because of an undisclosed injury. This season, the Swedish player has scored 45 points (15 goals and 30 assists) in 64 games.
Tocchet also commented on Filip Chytil, who has been recovering from a concussion since March 15. Tocchet noted that Chytil is having `good days,` but the 25-year-old Czech player will also not be back on the ice this season.
In other team news, goalie Thatcher Demko will miss Saturday`s game due to illness, according to Tocchet. Max Sasson is also out. However, forward Ty Mueller is set to make his debut in the NHL.
