While the Edmonton Oilers are currently focused on their Stanley Cup quest, the team is also planning for the future.
On Saturday, the Oilers announced they have signed forward Viljami Marjala to a two-year entry-level contract.
The 22-year-old Marjala has spent the last three seasons playing in his home country of Finland, accumulating 29 goals and 72 assists across 129 games.
Standing six-foot-one and weighing 180 pounds, he led his team, TPS Turku, with 52 points last season, featuring 44 assists.
Marjala was originally a fifth-round pick (2021) of the Buffalo Sabres, following two seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
