As the Edmonton Oilers face the loss of one important player due to injury, another is set to rejoin the lineup.
The team confirmed on Thursday that defenceman Mattias Ekholm is anticipated to play in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final when they face the Dallas Stars.
During Thursday`s morning practice, Ekholm skated paired with Evan Bouchard. This development follows the news that forward Zach Hyman is likely sidelined for the remainder of the season, with Corey Perry taking his place in the lineup.
Ekholm has not played since mid-April, making Thursday night`s contest his first appearance in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Before his injury earlier this season, he recorded nine goals and 33 points. Over his career, the veteran defenceman has accumulated 12 goals and 52 points across 112 playoff games.
