The UFC Kansas City event has been unexpectedly disrupted.
Ahmad Hassanzada was arrested on Saturday in Sacramento, California, for alleged sexual misconduct against a minor. He is facing felony charges, including lewd acts with a child under 14 years old.
Hassanzada is currently held in Sacramento County Jail with a bail set at $400,000 and is scheduled for a court appearance on Tuesday morning.
The 28-year-old fighter was originally set to compete against Evan Elder at Saturday`s Fight Night event. However, UFC newcomer Gauge Young will now replace Hassanzada and face Elder, as announced by the promotion.
Hassanzada secured his UFC contract after a submission victory against Dylan Mantello on Dana White`s Contender Series last September. He had previously appeared on DWCS in August 2022, where he was defeated by Nazim Sadykhov, but subsequently achieved a 3-1 record in his following four fights.
UFC officials have confirmed that Hassanzada is no longer under contract with the organization.
