In their initial face-to-face encounter ahead of the upcoming heavyweight championship rematch, Daniel Dubois attempted to make a statement by physically confronting Oleksandr Usyk. However, the aggressive gesture may not have elicited the desired response.
The two boxers are scheduled to compete for the undisputed heavyweight title on July 19th at Wembley Stadium in London. During their first official squaring off for the summer showdown on Monday, Dubois approached Usyk and delivered a shove, leading to security quickly stepping in to separate the fighters.
Following the contact, Usyk`s reaction was notably one of amusement, breaking into laughter, while Dubois was reported to have verbally insulted him.
Their first meeting took place in August 2023, where Usyk defeated Dubois via a ninth-round knockout. Since that bout, Usyk went on to become the undisputed champion by defeating Tyson Fury and now puts his WBC, WBO, and WBA championships on the line once again against Dubois.
The 26-year-old Dubois is looking to build upon recent success, including a stoppage victory over Filip Hrgovic, as he steps into the ring for this highly anticipated second contest against the reigning champion.
