Andrei Arlovski, former UFC heavyweight champion, is back to winning ways for the first time in almost three years.
Arlovski faced Terrance Hodges in the co-main event of Dirty Boxing 1 on Saturday night in Miami. This was his first fight since leaving the UFC in June, after a split decision loss to Martin Buday at UFC 303. The 46-year-old fighter landed several powerful elbow strikes that cut Hodges` face, leading to a doctor`s stoppage at two minutes into the second round.
“The Pitbull” used his experience and took his time, waiting for Hodges to act. The fight was mostly in a clinch due to Hodges` aggression, but Arlovski managed to land an elbow strike. Hodges also responded with body shots, but at a distance, Arlovski confidently worked with his jab. At the end of the round, Arlovski delivered a good series of elbow and hand strikes.
In the second round, Arlovski acted more actively and inflicted a serious cut on Hodges. The doctor examined the wound and stopped the fight.
Arlovski ended a four-fight losing streak in his first fight under the Dirty Boxing banner.
