Heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis is set to once again headline a UFC event, stepping into the main event spotlight.
The reliable veteran is scheduled to compete in the headliner of UFC Nashville on July 12th. He will be facing the undefeated rising star, Tallison Teixeira.
This upcoming bout marks the 30th UFC appearance for Lewis (28-12, 1 NC), a 40-year-old veteran. It`s his first fight in over a year. His last outing was a third-round knockout victory over Rodrigo Nascimento at UFC St. Louis in May 2024, which was only his second win in his last six contests.
Standing at an imposing 6-foot-7, the 25-year-old Teixeira (8-0) made a striking UFC debut in February after earning a contract on Dana White`s Contender Series. He finished Justin Tafa with strikes in just 35 seconds, maintaining his perfect professional record and finishing streak.
UFC Nashville represents the promotion`s return to the city in Tennessee, which last hosted an event in August 2023. That previous main event featured Cory Sandhagen defeating Rob Font by unanimous decision.
