Melquizael Costa`s recent decision victory against Julian Erosa appears even more remarkable now.

Competing in the featherweight main card opener at UFC Vegas 106 on Saturday, Costa secured his third win of 2025. The 28-year-old fighter extended his winning streak to four, though the victory came with a notable injury.

After the fight, UFC CEO Dana White posted a video on his Instagram stories revealing a severe laceration on one of Costa`s toes. Initially appearing as just a cut, the footage showed someone carefully pulling back the skin, exposing the underlying tissue.

Fortunately, White also shared an update showing that the significant wound on Costa`s toe had been stitched closed.

Known as “Melk Cauthy,” Costa is making a significant impact in the promotion`s competitive featherweight division, achieving three victories within a span of 85 days. Before his recent challenging bout with Erosa, he secured a decision win against Christian Rodriguez at UFC Mexico and back-to-back submission victories over experienced UFC fighter Andre Fili and Shayilan Nuerdanbieke.

Overall, Costa holds a 5-2 record inside the octagon. His only defeats within the promotion were against Steve Garcia and Thiago Moises, the latter occurring in his UFC debut on short notice.
