Dylan Cozens is enjoying his time with the Ottawa Senators after a trade from Buffalo. He`s preparing to return to Buffalo to play against the Sabres.
Cozens, who was traded to Ottawa less than three weeks ago, shared his thoughts on returning to his former team. “I envisioned a long career in Buffalo,” Cozens mentioned. “I wanted to contribute to turning things around and building a successful team there. Things didn`t pan out, but I`m now happy to be a Senator.”
The Sabres, who are facing another year without playoffs, made significant changes at the trade deadline, including sending Cozens to the Senators and acquiring Josh Norris.
Cozens, drafted by Buffalo in 2019, had a strong 2022-23 season with 68 points. Despite signing a seven-year contract extension with the Sabres, he was traded to Ottawa. Since joining the Senators, Cozens has been performing well, scoring three goals and four assists in eight games. The Senators are currently in a wild-card position in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, Norris is currently injured.
“This is a great group of guys,” Cozens added. “Everyone has been welcoming, and it`s been an easy transition.”
Cozens is anticipating his return to Buffalo, saying, “I`m excited. It will be a bit strange, but I`m trying not to overthink it. It`s just another game, and we need to get those two important points.”
Sabres fans are concerned about Cozens finding success elsewhere, similar to other former Sabres players like Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart, and Ryan O`Reilly.
