Connor McDavid once again etched his name into hockey history.
The captain of the Edmonton Oilers reached the 100-point mark for the eighth time in his ten-season career, equaling Marcel Dionne for the third-most such seasons in NHL history. Only legendary players Wayne Gretzky (15 times) and Mario Lemieux (10 times) have surpassed this milestone more often.
McDavid secured his 100th point with an assist on Ty Emberson`s goal in the first period against the San Jose Sharks. This is his fifth consecutive season reaching 100 points, a rare accomplishment achieved by only 13 other players, with the last instance being Steve Yzerman`s six-year streak from 1987 to 1993.
Wayne Gretzky holds the record for consecutive 100-point seasons with 15. Mario Lemieux is second with 10, followed by Mike Bossy and Peter Stastny, each with seven.
This season, McDavid has played in 67 games, missing some time due to a lower-body injury. He has scored 26 goals and provided 74 assists.
His teammate, Leon Draisaitl, also reached the 100-point mark this season with 106 points, marking his sixth 100-point season and fourth consecutive.
Now, the Oilers` star duo will focus on the Stanley Cup Playoffs, where they are scheduled to face the Los Angeles Kings in the first round.
