Chris Eubank Jr. missed weight for his anticipated clash with Conor Benn and is now facing consequences.
The bout between Eubank and Benn is scheduled for Saturday in London as the main event of Fatal Fury. During Friday`s official weigh-ins, Eubank initially missed the 160-pound weight limit by 0.2 pounds. On his second attempt, he weighed 160.05 pounds, still 0.05 pounds over the target. Consequently, as stipulated by the “weight clause” in his contract, Eubank has been fined $500,000 (£375,000).
Furthermore, Eubank must not exceed 170 pounds during the fight-day weigh-in on Saturday for this heated encounter.
Following this news, Benn, who successfully made weight at 156.4 pounds, reacted on his Twitter page, appearing quite pleased and uplifted.
“Show me the f*cking money,” Benn stated.
Eubank also commented on the situation via his Instagram page.
“Pain is temporary… glory is forever,” Eubank posted.
The anticipated grudge match between Eubank and Benn has encountered several obstacles leading up to the London event. The fight currently remains potentially in jeopardy depending on Eubank`s ability to manage his weight. The 35-year-old Eubank enters the bout following consecutive knockout victories, while Benn holds an undefeated record of 23 professional wins.
This marks the 28-year-old Benn`s return to the ring after 14 months, following his decision victory over Peter Dobson in February 2024.
