The Washington Capitals will be without defenseman Martin Fehervary for the remainder of the playoffs.
The team announced on Tuesday that Martin Fehervary has been ruled out for the season following knee surgery.
The surgery was performed to repair his right meniscus.
The 25-year-old Fehervary sustained the injury on April 15 during a game against the New York Islanders, where he appeared to twist his ankle. This injury prevented him from playing in Washington`s Game 1 matchup against the Montreal Canadiens on Monday.
In 81 games played this season, the Slovakian defenseman recorded five goals and 20 assists, averaging 19 minutes of ice time per game.
Alex Alexeyev took Fehervary`s place on the third defensive pairing alongside Trevor van Riemsdyk for Game 1.
