Washington Capitals` forward Aliaksei Protas`s participation in the playoffs is now uncertain.
Capitals coach Spencer Carbery announced on Sunday that Protas will be sidelined for weeks due to a lower-body injury.
Protas sustained the injury on Friday during the third period of their 5-3 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks and needed help leaving the ice.
It seemed like he injured his lower left leg.
This season, 24-year-old Protas has scored 30 goals and provided 36 assists, totaling 66 points in 76 games for the Capitals, who are leading in the Eastern Conference.
Last season, his best performance was 6 goals and 23 assists.
The Capitals have six more regular-season games left, concluding on April 17.
