NEW YORK — Kiefer Sherwood scored twice and assisted once, while Thatcher Demko made 26 saves as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the New York Islanders 5-2 on Wednesday night.

Aatu Raty, Derek Forbort, and Teddy Blueger also contributed goals for Vancouver.

For New York, Casey Cizikas and Tony DeAngelo found the net. Ilya Sorokin stopped 15 shots before being replaced early in the third period by Marcus Hogberg, who made five saves.

The Canucks broke a 2-2 tie with three goals in just over seven minutes in the third period after the Islanders had taken a 2-1 lead in the second.
