The Vancouver Canucks have bolstered their defensive corps with a new acquisition.
The team announced on Wednesday that defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph has signed a one-year contract. The agreement is valued at $775,000.
Joseph, a 26-year-old blueliner, spent the previous season playing for both the St. Louis Blues and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He appeared in 47 games during that time, recording three assists.
A native of Laval, Quebec, Joseph was originally drafted 23rd overall by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He made his debut in the National Hockey League during the 2020-21 season with the Penguins.
Over his NHL career to date, Joseph has played in a total of 194 games, tallying eight goals and contributing 32 assists.
