The Montreal Canadiens announced Saturday they have signed Austrian forward Vinzenz Rohrer to a three-year, entry-level contract.
The 20-year-old player has spent the past two seasons competing in Switzerland`s National League with the Zurich Lions.
In his second season with Zurich, Rohrer recorded 25 points, including 15 goals and 10 assists, over 52 regular season games. During the playoffs, he added seven points (one goal, six assists) in 16 contests, contributing to the Lions securing their second consecutive league championship.
Rohrer also represented Austria internationally at the recent World Hockey Championship, where he tallied six points (four goals, two assists) in eight games. Austria`s participation in the tournament ended in the quarterfinals following a loss to Switzerland, who ultimately finished as runners-up.
Prior to his time in Switzerland, Rohrer played two seasons (2021-2023) with the Ottawa 67`s in the Ontario Hockey League. There, he accumulated a total of 97 points, with 44 goals and 53 assists, across 118 games.
