The Montreal Canadiens are bolstering their forward prospects.
On Tuesday, the team announced the signing of Tyler Thorpe, their fifth-round draft pick from last year, to a three-year entry-level contract.
Thorpe, aged 19, will first gain experience with a professional tryout in the AHL for the remainder of this season before his contract officially starts.
Hailing from Richmond, British Columbia, the right-winger played for the Vancouver Giants in the WHL this past season, where he scored 27 goals and provided 25 assists, accumulating 69 penalty minutes in 68 games.
Thorpe, who stands at six-foot-five and weighs 210 pounds, also added one goal and two assists in five playoff games.
