VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Canucks have secured one of their leading offensive players, signing right winger Brock Boeser to a long-term agreement valued at US$50.75 million over seven years.

The club revealed the new contract roughly 30 minutes after the NHL`s free agency window commenced on Tuesday. Boeser, aged 28 and hailing from Burnsville, Minnesota, had become an unrestricted free agent.

Last season, Boeser contributed 25 goals and 25 assists for Vancouver. This production was significantly lower than his career-best marks of 40 goals and 73 points set in the 2023-24 season.

In March, there was considerable talk that the 28-year-old right winger might be traded before the NHL`s deadline. However, Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin stated that the proposals received were not sufficiently appealing.

Boeser, originally drafted 23rd overall by Vancouver in 2015, has spent his entire NHL career with the Canucks, appearing in 554 regular-season games. During this time, he has accumulated 204 goals and 230 assists. Additionally, he has recorded 11 goals and 12 assists in 29 playoff contests.

The 6-foot-1, 208-pound forward from Burnsville, Minnesota, earned the affection of fans not just for his scoring ability but also for his resilience in overcoming personal challenges, such as the passing of his father, Duke, in May 2022.

Boeser has always deeply valued the support from the Vancouver hockey fanbase.

“I truly can`t praise the fanbase and the city enough,” he commented at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. “Everyone I encounter is so kind. They have consistently supported me, and that means a great deal.”
