The Ottawa Senators will face the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday without their captain, Brady Tkachuk.
Coach Travis Green announced that Tkachuk is day-to-day and will not play against the Lightning after missing the morning practice due to an upper-body injury.
This is the second consecutive game Tkachuk will miss. He also sat out Tuesday`s game against the Buffalo Sabres due to the same injury.
The exact moment of the injury is still unknown.
Earlier this season, Tkachuk also missed a couple of games because of a lower-body injury after the 4 Nations Face-Off.
Tkachuk is the Senators` top scorer this season with 29 goals and 26 assists in 71 games. Ottawa currently holds a comfortable first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with a 39-29-6 record, five points ahead of the Montreal Canadiens.
In positive news for the Senators, forward Nick Cousins has returned to practice in a non-contact jersey. He had been sidelined with a knee injury since January and was expected to be out for 6-8 weeks.
