The St. Louis Blues have reached an agreement to extend the contract of one of their goaltenders.
The club announced on Saturday that backup netminder Joel Hofer has signed a two-year contract extension. The deal is reportedly worth $6.8 million, giving it an average annual value (AAV) of $3.4 million.
“Joel Hofer won`t be subject to offer sheets after signing a two-year extension worth $6.8 million,” the Blues stated on X while announcing the agreement. This statement appears to reference the team`s notable offer sheets to Edmonton Oilers forward Dylan Holloway and defenceman Philip Broberg last year, both of whom played significant roles in St. Louis`s subsequent push to the post-season.
Hofer, who is 24 years old, appeared in 31 games during the 2024-25 season. He finished the campaign with a record of 16-8, accompanied by a .904 save percentage and a 2.64 goals-against average. He also recorded one shutout.
The goaltender hails from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was originally selected by the Blues with the 107th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
