Following a promising sophomore campaign, forward Dmitri Voronkov is set to continue building on his success with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The team announced on Saturday that they have agreed to terms with the restricted free agent, signing him to a two-year contract extension.
The 24-year-old Voronkov demonstrated significant progress last season, recording 23 goals and 24 assists for a total of 47 points across 73 games.
Blue Jackets President and General Manager Don Waddell commented on the signing in a press release, stating, “We are very pleased to reach this agreement with Dmitri as he is an important part of our young core.”
Waddell highlighted Voronkov`s attributes and potential: “He has size, strength and excellent hands and has a chance to be a very special player. We look forward to his continued growth and development as a Blue Jacket.”
Columbus originally drafted the 6-foot-5 Russian winger 114th overall in the fourth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
Prior to joining the Blue Jackets organization, Voronkov spent four seasons playing in the KHL. He made the transition to North America for the 2023-24 season.
