Famous personalities Drake and Conor McGregor have made substantial financial wagers on key matches at the UFC 314 event.
Leading up to the Saturday night event in Miami, both celebrities publicized their large bets in collaboration with their respective gambling sponsors.
Drake announced on Instagram that he is betting $545,000 on Alexander Volkanovski, the favorite, to win against Diego Lopes in the main event and reclaim the UFC featherweight championship.
If Volkanovski wins, Drake stands to gain a $915,000 return.
A victory would be timely for Volkanovski, who has recently experienced two knockout defeats in championship fights against Ilia Topuria and lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. The 36-year-old aims to make history as the first UFC fighter to secure an undisputed title after suffering consecutive losses.
Lopes enters the fight on a five-win streak since a decision loss to Movsar Evloev.
McGregor is also involved in the betting action. He shared a video on social media revealing his $500,000 bet on Michael Chandler to not only beat Paddy Pimblett in the co-main event but to defeat him by knockout.
Chandler, a former Bellator lightweight champion, is considered the underdog against Pimblett, having lost his last two fights and four of his six UFC appearances. Pimblett has an undefeated 6-0 record in the UFC.
