Barcelona are reportedly making significant moves in the transfer market. Following earlier agreements for Anthony Gordon and potential interest in Julian Alvarez, the Catalan club is now said to have agreed personal terms with 31-year-old midfielder Bernardo Silva.
Silva, an icon of Manchester City, is set to depart the Etihad Stadium at the end of his contract after nine years. While Juventus have also shown interest, and Silva was reportedly open to a move to Atletico Madrid, he is expected to prioritize a move to Barcelona, where some of his family resides.
According to reports, Barcelona and Silva have reached an agreement on contract terms, which would span two years. The formalization of the deal will depend on the club’s ability to fit it within their salary cap. Agent Jorge Mendes, known for his close ties with Barcelona, is reportedly empowered to finalize the agreement.
However, the signing is pending the final approval of new manager Hansi Flick. While some reports suggest Silva is actively pursuing the move, Flick has yet to give the green light. Earlier indications suggested Flick believed the squad already possessed sufficient midfield depth, and signing Silva was not a top priority. This reluctance has also reportedly impacted potential moves for other players, such as Alessandro Bastoni.
