Following his victory at UFC 314 in Miami, Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett found himself in an unexpected verbal sparring match with Colby Covington backstage.
Pimblett, fresh off a significant third-round knockout against Michael Chandler in the co-main event, was conducting a backstage interview when Covington suddenly approached him and began to criticize the caliber of Pimblett`s previous opponents in the UFC.
In a video of the incident, Covington can be heard dismissing Pimblett`s wins, stating that he has only faced “scrubs” and fighters with poor records. He labeled Pimblett a “bum” and a “fraud.”
Pimblett quickly retorted, bringing up Covington`s recent string of losses in his fights.
While Covington claimed Pimblett was facing weak opponents, Pimblett pointed out Covington`s own recent record, highlighting his two-fight losing streak and overall poor performance in his last four fights since his victory against Jorge Masvidal in March 2022.
Pimblett, riding high after his win, is now setting his sights on the lightweight championship and has called out top contenders like Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje, and Charles Oliveira.
