Taylor Makar will join his brother Cale Makar on the Colorado Avalanche team.
The Avalanche announced on Monday the signing of Taylor Makar to a one-year, entry-level contract for the 2025-26 season.
The 24-year-old forward from Calgary scored 30 points, including 18 goals and 12 assists, in 38 games for the University of Maine this season. He was the team leader with six game-winning goals.
Makar will play for the Colorado Eagles in the American Hockey League on an amateur tryout for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
The Colorado Avalanche selected Makar in the seventh round, 220th overall, in the 2021 NHL Draft. He previously played for UMass-Amherst for three seasons in college.
