Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni could potentially be available for selection in Sunday night’s match against Barcelona, despite disciplinary proceedings initiated against him on Thursday. Los Blancos are investigating an incident where Tchouameni reportedly struck teammate Fede Valverde after a training session.
Both the French international and Valverde are currently under scrutiny and could face significant repercussions. Some reports suggest that Real Madrid might even consider selling one of them this summer. Valverde is perceived by some within the club to bear more responsibility for the altercation, as he is the team’s vice-captain and is considered to have been the instigator.
Tchouameni May Still Feature in El Clásico
According to El Pais, Tchouameni has a chance to participate in El Clásico on Sunday night. In what has been a difficult week for the team, Real Madrid faces Barcelona at Camp Nou, knowing that anything less than a victory will effectively hand the league title to their rivals. Tchouameni would undoubtedly have been a starting player and a crucial asset for the team, but his actions could lead to a suspension.
However, the club’s stance is that neither player will face sporting sanctions. Instead, Real Madrid is reportedly planning substantial financial penalties for both. It also remains unclear if any sanctions will be imposed before the Clasico, as there is no set timeline for the disciplinary process to conclude. Tchouameni participated in normal training on Friday.
Valverde Ruled Out Against Barcelona
Following reports of him hitting his head on a table and sustaining a head injury, Valverde will not be playing against Barcelona. He has been advised to rest at home for 10-14 days, suggesting he may also be undergoing concussion protocol due to the blow he received.
Real Madrid has the authority to ban both Tchouameni and Valverde for anywhere between 3 to 10 games for a serious breach of their code of conduct, and between 11 to 20 games for a more severe infraction.
