Leading the lottery odds are the Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards, and Charlotte Hornets, each holding a 14% chance at the first overall selection based on their regular-season records (17-65, 18-64, and 19-63 respectively). They are followed by the New Orleans Pelicans (21-61) with a 12.5% chance and the Philadelphia 76ers (24-58) with a 10.5% chance. This marks the second consecutive year the Wizards have the best odds, although the Atlanta Hawks ultimately secured the top pick in 2024 and selected forward Zaccharie Risacher.
Historically, the Wizards last picked first overall in 2010 (John Wall), and the Hornets last used the top pick on Larry Johnson in the 1991 draft. The Utah Jazz are notably one of only six NBA franchises never to have held the coveted No. 1 selection.
